Metal spinning
Metal spinning is a metal working process which originates from the ancient times when the artisans produced the chalices and similar round ornaments out of sheet metal. The process itself hasn’t changed much, since many unique and more complex products are still made by hand. On the other hand there are products made on lathe machines. These machines make a product desired by the customer from a steel sheet roundels by means of steel, plastic or wooden device through a process of deforming or drawing the metal. It is a little- known fact that when producing prototypes and series up to a few thousand pieces, metal spinning is a much cheaper technique in comparison to other processes.
Materials and dimensions
The metal which we use for the mechanical processing are always of high quality, so that they can adapt to the wishes of the customer. We use steel sheet type DC03, DC04. In the case of stainless steel sheet metal we prefer to use the one containing more nickel, and thus mold AISI 304 (W.Nr.:1.4301) and AISI 3016 (W.Nr.:1.4571). We also mold non-ferrous metal. We use aluminum 99.5, copper and brass sheet. We furthermore create from other special blends steel sheet metal which allow drawing, such as titanium-zinc sheet metal and others. In addition we also mold perforated sheet metal. The thickness of the material we use is between 0.8mm (in some cases even less) and 1.5mm. The thickness of aluminum sheet metal is up to 3mm. We are able to make the products of a size as small as of a few mm and as big as up to a diameter of 1300mm.
Tools
We create the tools and devices needed for the prototypes of products. Therefore the customer can see the desired product before it is sent into mass production. The tools and devices are made of either metal, plastic or wood. We use our experience to help the customer get the desired looks and functionality of the product.
